Dr Daniel Carabellese
BA, BPsych (Hons), MPsych (Clin), PhD
Dan is a curious, open-minded, and compassionate psychologist who strives to understand each person’s individual personality, goals, and way of life. He works with adults of all genders, sexual orientations, age groups, neurotypes, and cultural backgrounds.
Dan has experience working with a range of mental health concerns, including depression (and other mood disorders), generalised anxiety, social anxiety, specific phobias, panic and agoraphobia, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
Dan is trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Schema Therapy. He has a special interest in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Metacognitive therapy approaches. He finds it rewarding and satisfying to provide high-quality, evidence-based treatments which are targeted at helping people to flourish in their lives.
Dan is committed to a neurodiversity-affirming practice framework which celebrates people’s authentic identities and attempts as much as possible to accommodate sensory needs and communication preferences. He very much enjoys working with Autistic, ADHD, and other neurodivergent adults.
Please note that Dan does not accept referrals for the treatment of eating disorders and is unable to provide assessments for Autism or ADHD. It is suggested that such referrals are directed for specialised assessment.
A holistic approach to health and multi-disciplinary care are very important to Dan, who is more than happy to liaise with GPs, psychiatrists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech pathologists, dietitians, or other members of your treatment team.
Dan holds a Master’s degree and PhD in Clinical Psychology. He is endorsed as a clinical psychologist and registered with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA). He is also a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA). Dan holds a position as a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Adelaide and remains involved with research and teaching as much as possible.
For students and registrars, Dan is a board-approved supervisor and is able to provide ad hoc or ongoing supervision arrangements. Please contact the practice to discuss fees and availability around supervision.
Dan consults at BlueSky Psychology on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 9:00am to 4:00pm.
