Dr Daniel Carabellese
BA, BPsych (Hons), MPsych (Clin), PhD
Daniel is a curious, open-minded, and compassionate psychologist who enjoys working with people to identify and achieve their goals. His values as a professional are informed by his research, which focuses on shame, compassion, and therapeutic relationships. He works with adults of all genders, sexual orientations, age groups and cultural backgrounds.
He has experience treating a range of mental health concerns, including depression, generalised anxiety, social anxiety, specific phobias, panic and agoraphobia, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). He primarily practices Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), with a special interest in exposure and metacognitive therapies. Daniel finds it particularly rewarding to help people face their fears and overcome barriers and stuck points that hold them back from living the lives they want.
Daniel believes that it is essential to tailor therapy to suit the specific needs of each person and is open to adapting treatment to work best for you. He also believes it is important to take a ‘whole person’ approach to health and wellbeing, and is more than happy to liaise with GPs, psychiatrists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech pathologists, dietitians, or other members of your treatment team.
Please note that Daniel does not accept referrals for the treatment of eating disorders. It is suggested that such referrals are directed for specialised treatment.
Daniel holds a Master of Clinical Psychology and a PhD in Clinical Psychology. He is endorsed as a clinical psychologist and registered with the Psychology Board of Australia. He is also a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and the Psychology and Health Forum (PHF). Daniel is also involved in university research and teaching, with a role as a clinical lecturer.
Daniel consults at BlueSky Psychology Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
