Tahnee Seychell

BArts, BHSc (Hons), MPsych (Clin)

Tahnee is a Clinical Psychologist who has completed a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and the Clinical Psychology Registrar program through AHPRA. She has previous worked in a range of government departments and not-for-profit organisations providing assessment services, counselling and psychological treatment.

She is passionate about working with people to relieve their psychological distress, achieve meaningful change and discover wellbeing and fulfilment in their lives. She is available to see clients at BlueSky Psychology on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday each week. Tahnee treats a range of mental health issues including depression, panic attacks, obsessional thinking, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, phobias and trauma. She also has worked with people struggling with low self-esteem, sleep problems, stress and poor emotion regulation. Tahnee has undertaken research into the treatment of eating disorders and has a special interest in working with people struggling with weight management, poor body image and disordered eating. Please note that Tahnee is unable to see clients with Anorexia Nervosa. Given the medical risk associated with being underweight, this presentation requires care and support from specialised services such as the Statewide Eating Disorder Service (SEDS) which is located in Brighton.

Tahnee’s preferred forms of treatment include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness. She also draws methods and approaches from Schema Therapy, when appropriate, to support her clients to explore and address the impact of difficult childhood experiences.

Tahnee believes that her past personal struggles and life experiences help her to connect with her clients as they face difficult times. She uses an eclectic treatment approach, flexibly applying evidence based interventions and tailoring her therapeutic style to suit her clients’ individual preferences and needs.

Tahnee also provides relationship counselling, drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches including Gottmans Couples Therapy. Tahnee believes that having healthy, supportive relationships is an essential pillar of mental health and she enjoys working with couples to enhance their communication and connection to one another, learn constructive ways to manage conflict, improve intimacy and develop a shared sense of meaning and togetherness.

Outside of work, Tahnee enjoys spending time with her husband, family, friends and her two american staffy’s Hemi and Mia. Tahnee is passionate about nutrition and wellbeing, and loves to learn and grow in her knowledge about psychology and health in general. She keeps fit through running, going to the gym and working up a sweat in bikram yoga classes. Tahnee is a massive ‘foodie,’ she loves to cook and eat out – taking any opportunity to explore new cuisines from all around the world. She also likes to read and will often have two or three books ‘on the go’ at any one time.

Tahnee has a great deal of respect for anyone who can acknowledge their need for support and take the positive step of commencing psychological treatment. If you feel Tahnee would be a good fit for you, please call BlueSky Psychology to arrange an initial appointment to see her.
